Image Cropper

Crop any photo to the exact size or shape you need — drag the corners, snap to a ratio like 1:1 or 16:9, and rotate or flip. Runs entirely in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

How to Crop an Image

  1. Drop a photo into the box above, or click to browse your device.
  2. Drag inside the highlighted area to move it, or drag a corner handle to resize.
  3. Pick a ratio if the result must be an exact shape — square for profile pictures, 16:9 for video thumbnails, 9:16 for stories and reels.
  4. Press Crop & download. The crop is taken from the full-resolution original, not the preview.

Common Crop Ratios

  • 1:1 square — profile photos, avatars, Instagram feed posts, product thumbnails.
  • 16:9 — YouTube thumbnails, presentation slides, desktop wallpapers and video covers.
  • 9:16 vertical — Instagram and Facebook stories, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and reels.
  • 4:3 and 3:2 — classic photo shapes; 3:2 matches most DSLR sensors and standard print sizes.

Cropping Does Not Reduce Quality

Cropping removes pixels around the edges — it never stretches or rescales what remains, so the part you keep stays at its original resolution and sharpness. The preview above is scaled down to fit your screen, but the crop itself is always taken from the full-size original.

Do bear in mind that a heavy crop leaves you with fewer pixels overall. If you crop a small corner out of an already-small image and then enlarge it, that enlargement is what will look soft — not the crop.

Which Download Format?

  • PNG — lossless and keeps transparency. Best for logos, screenshots and graphics with text.
  • JPG — much smaller for photographs, universally supported, but no transparency.
  • WebP — modern format giving smaller files than both at similar quality; ideal for websites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is loaded and cropped entirely inside your browser, so it never leaves your device. That makes it safe for ID documents, private photos and confidential screenshots.

Does cropping lose quality?

No. The kept area stays at its original resolution — cropping only discards the pixels outside your selection. Saving as JPG or WebP applies normal image compression; choose PNG if you want it lossless.

Can I crop to an exact pixel size?

The crop dimensions in pixels are shown live as you drag, so you can dial in a precise size. Lock a ratio first if the shape matters, then resize until the pixel figures match what you need.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The crop area supports touch, so you can drag and resize with your finger just as you would with a mouse.
