Compress Image Online
Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP file sizes right in your browser. No uploads — your photos never leave your device.
or drag & drop JPG / PNG / WebP here (multiple allowed)
Lower quality = smaller file. 70–80% is usually invisible to the eye.
How to Compress an Image
- Select one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images (or drag & drop them above).
- Pick a quality level — 75% is a great balance of size and sharpness.
- Optionally set a max dimension to also scale huge photos down (e.g. 1920 px for web use).
- Click Compress Images, compare the before/after sizes, and download.
Why Compress Images?
- Faster websites — images are usually the heaviest part of a page; smaller images mean better Core Web Vitals and SEO.
- Email & form limits — get photos under upload limits (2 MB, 5 MB…) without visible quality loss.
- Save storage — a 12 MB phone photo often compresses below 1 MB at the same viewing quality.
- Private by design — compression runs in your browser with the HTML5 canvas; we never see your images.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will compression reduce my image quality?
At 70–80% quality the difference is usually invisible. Below 50% you may notice softness in fine details. Try a level and compare — nothing is overwritten.
JPEG or WebP — which should I choose?
WebP is 25–35% smaller at the same quality and is supported by all modern browsers. Choose JPEG only if the file must open in older software.
Why did my PNG convert to JPEG?
PNG is lossless, so quality sliders don’t shrink it much. In “Auto” mode we convert PNG photos to JPEG for real savings. Note: JPEG has no transparency — pick WebP to keep transparent backgrounds.
Is there a file limit?
No fixed limit — everything runs on your device, so it only depends on your browser’s memory. Dozens of photos at once is fine.
