Photo EXIF Remover & Viewer
See exactly what hidden data your photos carry — camera, date, and GPS location — then strip it out before you share. Removal is lossless: your image pixels are untouched, only the metadata is deleted. Nothing is uploaded; everything runs in your browser.

How to Remove EXIF Data From a Photo
- Drop one or more photos into the box above (or click to browse). They stay on your device.
- Each photo is scanned instantly. Click View metadata to see the camera, date and GPS coordinates stored inside it.
- Click Remove metadata & download all, or clean a single photo with its own Download clean button.
- Share the cleaned file safely — the picture looks identical, but the hidden data is gone.
What Is EXIF Data and Why Remove It?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a block of hidden information your camera or phone writes into every photo. It commonly includes:
- GPS coordinates — the exact spot the photo was taken, often accurate to a few metres. This is the big privacy risk: a photo posted from home can reveal your address.
- Date and time the shot was taken, down to the second.
- Device make and model — which phone or camera you own.
- Camera settings such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO and lens.
- Owner name, copyright and editing software in some files.
Many social networks strip EXIF on upload, but plenty of places do not — email attachments, cloud links, messaging apps, forums, marketplace listings and your own website all commonly pass the original file through untouched.
Lossless Removal — No Quality Loss
Most online EXIF strippers re-encode your photo, which throws away image quality every time. This tool works differently: it rewrites the file structure and drops only the metadata segments (EXIF, XMP, IPTC and comments), copying the compressed image data across byte for byte. The result is pixel-identical to your original — just smaller and private.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and rewritten entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your photos never leave your device, which is exactly what you want from a privacy tool.
Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?
No. The image data is copied without being decoded or re-compressed, so the cleaned photo is pixel-for-pixel identical to the original. Only the hidden metadata is deleted.
Which formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG and PNG are cleaned losslessly. WebP files are also accepted. JPEG stores EXIF in APP segments and PNG in text chunks — both are removed.
Can I see the GPS location before deleting it?
Yes. If a photo contains coordinates, they are shown in decimal degrees with a link that opens the exact spot on a map, so you can confirm what was exposed.
Does this remove the location from photos already posted online?
No. It cleans the copy on your device. Anything already uploaded elsewhere keeps whatever data it was shared with, so clean your photos before posting.
