BMI Calculator

Check your Body Mass Index in metric or imperial units, see your category, and get your healthy weight range.

What Is BMI?

Body Mass Index estimates body fat from your height and weight: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height² (m²). It’s the screening measure used by the WHO and most health services. It doesn’t distinguish muscle from fat, so athletes can read “overweight” while lean — treat it as a starting point, not a diagnosis.

BMI Categories (WHO, adults)

  • Below 18.5 — Underweight
  • 18.5 – 24.9 — Normal weight
  • 25.0 – 29.9 — Overweight
  • 30.0 and above — Obese

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BMI accurate for everyone?

It’s a population-level screening tool. It can misread very muscular people, older adults and children (children use age-specific percentile charts instead).
