AI Prompt Generator

Turn a vague idea into a clear, structured prompt for chat, coding and image models. Add the facts, source material and limits that a model cannot know, then copy a model-appropriate prompt.

Private by design: this tool writes prompt text in your browser; it does not run an AI model or upload what you type. Any prompts you choose to save stay only in this browser.

How to Write a Better AI Prompt

  1. Pick a quick start if one matches your job, then edit the fields.
  2. Fill in the task properly — this is the single biggest factor in the quality of the answer.
  3. Add context: what the thing is, who it is for, and anything the model could not possibly guess.
  4. Press Build prompt, copy it, and paste it into your assistant.

The Anatomy of a Good Prompt

Weak prompts fail because they leave the model guessing. A strong prompt supplies five things:

  • Role — “act as an experienced copywriter” sets vocabulary and depth.
  • Task — one clear instruction. If you need three things, ask for three things explicitly.
  • Context — the facts only you know. Without these the model invents plausible filler.
  • Format — a table, bullets, JSON. Saying so removes an entire round of rewriting.
  • Constraints — length, tone, and what to avoid.

Why “Ask Me Questions First” Helps So Much

The most useful line you can add is an instruction to ask for missing details rather than assume them. Models are built to be helpful, so given a thin brief they will confidently fill the gaps with invention. Inviting questions turns a one-shot guess into a short conversation, and the output improves dramatically. That option is switched on by default here.

Choose the Right Image-Prompt Format

Image models do not all use the same syntax. Choose your target before building: Midjourney receives a compact comma-separated prompt and its --no exclusion syntax; ChatGPT / DALL-E receives clear natural-language art direction; Stable Diffusion / FLUX receives a positive prompt plus a separately labelled negative prompt. Describe what you want, then add exclusions only when they help.

Ground the Model in Your Material

Paste notes, requirements, an error message or source text into Source material when accuracy matters. The generated prompt tells the model to treat that material as the authority, to flag uncertainty and not to invent citations, numbers or capabilities. Never paste secrets or private financial information into a third-party AI service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool use AI or send my data anywhere?

No. It is a structured text builder that runs entirely in your browser. No AI model is called, no API key is needed, and the tool does not upload what you type. You take the finished prompt to the assistant of your choice.

Why does the image target matter?

Midjourney understands parameters such as --no, while ChatGPT / DALL-E responds better to ordinary art direction and Stable Diffusion / FLUX commonly use a separate negative prompt. Choosing the target prevents model-specific syntax from being sent to the wrong image tool.

Where are saved prompts stored?

They are stored only in this browser using local storage. They are not sent to ToolStacky. Clear your browser site data to remove them, and avoid saving sensitive content.

Which AI tools does this work with?

All of the text-based ones — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and open models all respond to the same prompt structure. The image style is aimed at Midjourney, DALL-E and Stable Diffusion.

Do longer prompts always work better?

No. Relevant detail helps; padding does not. A focused prompt with real context beats a long one full of vague adjectives, and overly long prompts can bury the actual instruction.

Should I always ask it to check assumptions?

Use it for planning, analysis and debugging, where untested assumptions can cause a wrong answer. For short creative tasks it usually adds little, so it is off by default.
